I lost my Credits in Fotolia!!——Buyer’s credit card declined ??
I sold about 100$ in 24th April, and got 46credits as a commission in return. I haven’t cashed the credits since then, though the number is above 100.Today,I find I lose about 42.83$ ,I see an information “Buyer’s credit card declined “,what’s the meaning? If I cashed my credits earlier, would it happen? Fotolia, I want my money back! Can you give me an explanation?

Unfortunately, this does happen quite a bit. A buyers (or thief) credit card is rejected or disputed (which can happen a long way down the road) and Fotolia is forced to pay back the money, therefor they cannot pay you a commission on a sale that collected no earnings. Another way to look at it is that you received the full % on the money they collected which was 0.
It’s a crappy part of the business, but it definitely is a reality we all have to deal with from time to time.
Sorry,
Mat

If I cashed earlier, and then the total credits of my account is less than 7$,can Fotolia ask me to give the money back if the lose for “Buyer’s credit card declined “is 42.83$?
Why Fotolia cost so long a time to affirm the validity of the buyer’s credit?
Shouldn’t Fotolia supply some evidence which prove illeague of the buyer’s credits to the seller?

I lost my Credits!!——Buyer’s credit card declined ??This thread has been discussed several times, lately in the last month. We’ve all lost money due to someone’s dishonesty or ineptness, and we will lose money in the future due to the same reasons.
It’s a shame, but there’s not much we or Fotolia can do about it. When it happens, Fotolia loses money also.
I do think Fotolia should get with the various credit card processors and work out an improved system of verification of credit cards being used for payment. I’m sure Fotolia is not the only stock agency with this problem and perhaps an industry wide soluion can be worked out.
The fact that International sales are involved could also be a factor. For example, Garfie Cat cites the policies in China, but I’m sure he does not sell his work in China alone, but Internationally as well.
I don’t mind waiting a little longer for verification and posting of my earnings if it’s goi ng to mean a guaranteed payment.

You would have more than likely had a negative balance showing. Future sales would have gone towards that amount I would imagine.
Again, it isn’t necessarily about affirming validity of a credit card. If someone doesn’t notice fraudulent charges until a couple months after the fact, they then dispute the charge and an investigation ensues it can take a good chunk of time. Fotolia is an International company, it isn’t only Americans buying your pics so unfortunately, it can take a long time for these issues to be resolved.
Trust me, you aren’t the first person to have this happen. It is frustrating to say the least. Look on the bright side though, at least it wasn’t your credit card /identity that was stolen.
take care,
Mat

Yes Clarence I would agree totally with your last comment. It is a little annoying having a good month for sales..only to have to pay it all back a few months later which has happened to me recently. Yes I would accept delayed payment if verification could be guaranteed or at least made more certain.
